Hedwig charts the life of a divorced, sexually abused East German girly-boy with a penchant for Gummi bears, who ends up married to a G.I. while living in a trailer park in Kansas! The victim of a botched transsexual surgery (hence, the "angry inch"), recently dumped by her husband, she now supports herself with a few odd jobs, ("mainly the jobs we call blow") until she loses her gag reflex ("you do the math"). As a baby-sitting hooker, she provides young and pimply Jesus-freak Tommy Gnosis with a full-on musical and sexual initiation. Tommy then spurns her as he goes on to pop stardom. Reunited years later in the back of a limousine, they come to terms with each other just before slamming into a bus of deaf school children!
